Kpop Weekly Chart : March Week 2

Hey hey hey..!

Long time no see..!  I had a work trip to NAD province for 4 days, so I miss my blog^^. Finally I can post my favorite part of this blog : K pop chart! Well, KARA in the 1st position. WOW! and amazingly, CN Blue still on 3rd position.

Okay, here’s the complete chart  (credit : soompi) :

1. (+5) Kara – 루팡 (Lupin) *** 1 WEEK NO. 1 ***

Comment: Kara takes the No. 1 spot with “Lupin” on only its 2nd week on the chart. After surprisingly winning the top female group on our last year’s Soompi Gayo Award, Kara continues their strong showing on our chart. The title song “Lupin” is from their recently released 3rd mini-album of the same name. Kara vowed to return to a more fierce image on this mini-album, a concept that did not fare too well when they used it on their debut album. But that was then and this is now. Kara has developed a large and loyal fan base now and fans are more receptive of their change in concept this time.

2. (-1) 2AM – 죽어도 못 보내 (Can’t Send You Even If I Die)

Album: 2AM mini-album “Can’t Send You Even If I Die” Track 2
Comment: Title song of 2AM’s third mini album. The 4 sweet voices of 2AM meet ballad hit maker, song writer Bang Shi-hyuk in this song that grabbed much attention. Album: CNBlue 1st mini-album “Bluetory” Track 1
Comment: This is the title track of CNBlue’s first mini-album “Bluetory.” CNBlue debuted as an indie band in Japan and has honed its skills ever since. This song has a magnificent beat and addictive melody, which make it sound very sophisticated. (credits to Arirang TV – Pops In Seoul)

4. (-2) SNSD – Oh!

Album: SNSD Vol. 2 Track 1
Comment: This is the title track of Girls’ Generation’s second studio album. It is a sophisticated electronic pop genre song that was written by hit-maker Kenzie. 5. (-1) Min Kyung Hoon – 아프니까 사랑이죠 (It’s Love Because It Hurts)

Album: Min Kyung Hoon mini-album “Goodbye” Track 1
Comment: Buzz’s main vocalist drops one spot to No. 5. Min Kyung Hoon makes a comeback after two years with a five track mini album. The singer has taken part in selecting these songs carefully. The title track “It’s Love Because It Hurts” is written by Cho Young Soo and Kang Eun Kyung. It has an intense violin intro before settling into a beautiful ballad melody.

6. (+10) T-Ara – 너 때문에 미쳐 (Crazy Because Of You) *** BIGGEST MOVER OF THE WEEK ***

Album: T-Ara Vol. 1 Repackaged Version Track 1
Comment: T-Ara who has released hits including “Lie,” “Bo Peep Bo Peep” and “Like The First Time” has done a 180 degree turn with their repackaged version of their first album. The title track is “Crazy Because of You” and it was made by an all-star combination: co-composed by Jo Young Soo and Kim Tae Hyun and penned by Wheesung. This dance track has a pop feel with electronic sounds. This song has already topped many music charts in Korea and it is our biggest mover this week, up 10 spots to No. 6. 2010 is not even three months in and this is already T-Ara’s 3rd top 10 hits. They are quickly becoming one of the most popular female groups in Korea.

7. (–) 4men (feat. 美) – 못해 (Can’t Do)

Album: 4men Special Album “The 3rd Generation” Track 2
Comment: Title song of 4Men’s special album entitled “The 3rd Generation.” Written by Vibe’s Yoon Min-soo, the rhythm is tension-filled till the end, with heart-breaking lyrics and the sound of Shin Yong-jae’s explosive vocals. 8. (-3) Kim Jong Kook – 이 사람이다 (It’s This Person)

Comment: With his trademark high pitch voice, “The One Man” Kim Jong Kook is back with his 6th album “Eleventh Story”. The title comes from the eleven albums he has released in total since his Turbo days. There are also a total of eleven tracks which all showcases his sweet vocals. Title song “It’s This Person” is a sweet easy listening ballad which is tailor-made to fit the singer’s voice. This week it dropped three spots to No. 8.

9. (-1) U-Kiss – 빙글빙글 (Spinning)

Genre: Pop / Dance

Music + Lyrics: Brave Brothers
Album: U-Kiss Vol. 1 Track 2
Comment: U-Kiss finally releases their first full length album “Only One, Without You”. Hit maker, Brave Brothers have participated in the album by producing it and composing songs including the title track is “Spinning;” it is an electronic hip-hop number. The song will catch listeners’ attentions from the start. This week it dropped one spot to No. 9.

10. (-1) Untouchable (feat. Narcia) – 가슴에 살아 (Live In The Heart)

Genre: Hip-hop

Album: Untouchable 2nd mini-album Track 4
Comment: Popular hip-hop duo Untouchable is back with their 2nd mini-album. To fit the winter season, this time they have selected a ballad “Live In The Heart” to promote. It also features the sweet vocal of Brown Eyed Girls member Narcia. This week it drops back one spot to No. 10.

11. (-1) Gavy NJ (feat. Sunnyside MJ) – 해바라기 (Sunflower)

Comment: This is the title track of Gavy NJ’s fourth studio album. It is a medium-tempo song about the desire to find one’s love. The accompaniment of a 28-member string orchestra creates a magnificent and beautiful melody. The main melody, which begins in the prelude, and the ample vocals make this song very impressive. Comment: Lee Seung Ki’s latest hit “Love Teaches You How To Drink” is from the repackaged version of his 4th album. This song even though still a ballad, has a more up-tempo arrangement. It also features the rapping of 8Eight’s Baek Chan. “Love Teaches You How To Drink” is written by the combination of Hitman Bang and Baek Chan. This team has written many hit songs for different artists recently.

13. (-2) Hyun Ah (feat. Yong Joon Hyung of Beast) – Change

Album: Hyun Ah digital single “Change” Track 1
Comment: This is the title track of the solo debut digital single album from Hyun-ah of 4Minute. It features Yong Jun-hyung of BEAST. Comment: After their 4th album in 2007, Big Mama will be back with their 5th album later this month. “Just One Day” served as a preview of the upcoming album and is released first as a digital single. It is produced by Seo El that has produced Fly to the sky, Park Jung Hyun and As One’s songs. This song is asking for just one more day before the breakup. The genre is pop ballad and very emotional, portrayed by the powerful and talented voices of Big Mama. It is our highest debut this week at No. 14. (credits to ~S2~)

15. (–) Big Bang – Lollipop Part 2

Album: Big Bang digital single “Lollipop Part 2” Track 1
Comment: Last year, Big Bang introduced 2NE1 with the song Lollipop. Now part 2 of this song has just been released and it is all Big Bang this time. During the past year, each of the members has been busy with their solo activities whether it was through solo music activities or for drama soundtracks. This is their first time in a while since the group has worked together as a whole. The song is a hip-hop electronica number for the LG Cyon mobile phone and once again, it was composed by Teddy with lyrics penned by Teddy, G-Dragon, and TOP. Through this song, the boys are to show their sexy and manly side.

16. (+7) Lim Chang Jung – 잊혀지는 이별 (Forgotten Break Up)

Comment: Veteran Lim Chang Jung makes a comeback with a remake and best album, REMIND about a year since his last. There are a total of 12 tracks, two of them penned by the artist himself. One of the new songs on the album is “Forgotten Breakup” which was composed and penned by Lim. It starts off with violin which continues on with emotional sad vocals.

17. (-3) 2NE1 – 날 따라 해봐요 (Try To Follow Me)

Album: 2NE1 digital single “Try To Follow Me” Track 1
Comment: Last year’s top new artist, 2NE1, is back with their latest digital single “Try To Follow Me” to hype music listeners. The song was composed by Teddy who has also done “Fire,” “I Don’t Care,” Dara’s “Kiss,” Park Bom’s “You and I,” and CL & Minzi’s “Please Don’t Go.” The song has an unstoppable and strong feel to it. This song is for the new Samsung Corby Folder phone and 2NE1 filmed a CF for it. With usual YG styled hiphop and upbeat music, this song uses a phase of Korean children’s song “Try to Follow Me.” Within a few hours after the release it took No. 1 spots on many online Korean music charts.

18. (New) One Two – 와랄라 랄라레 (Walala Lalale)

Comment: Quietly becoming a consistent hit-maker in k-pop, hip-hop duo One Two scores another top 20 hit this week with their latest song “Walala Lalale” coming from their 2nd mini-album of the same title. “Walala Lalale” is a powerful reggae style dance number created by Brave Brothers. This week it debuts on our chart at No. 18.

19. (-6) See Ya, Davichi, T-Ara – 원더우먼 (Wonder Woman)

Comment: This is the title track of the second digital single album from SeeYa, Davichi and T-Ara. It is a retro-style dance song with an appealing melody. The lyrics are about women’s friendship and moral sense. Comment: V.O.S has increased their popularity in the last 2 years with all three members Park Ji Hun, Choi Hyun Joon, and Kim Kyung Rok all having their solo works. They recently released a best hit collection album which includes all their past hit songs in two CDs. There is one new song on the album, which is “I Am Sorry”, and it enters our chart at No. 20 this week. How high this song will go will partly depend on whether the trio is coming out to perform or not.
