Soompi’s Weekly K-Pop Music Chart : April Week 4

Hey hey hey….! Today is such a beautiful morning..! Let’s start with soompi‘s latest weekly k-pop chart.

Well, Girl’s Generation (소녀시대/Sonyeoshidae/SoShi)  is on top! Wow..! Great job! ^^ But unfortunately my favorite Epik High drops down to no. 15😦. Okay, here’s the complete chart…..

1. (+2) SNSD – Run Devil Run *** 1 WEEK NO. 1 ***
Score: 885
Genre: Pop / Dance

Music: Busbee, James, Engstorm / Lyrics: Hong Ji Yoo
Album: SNSD Vol. 2 repackaged version Track 1
Comment: Perhaps this is the last week that their song has the best chance to hit the top before more strong challengers fly in. SNSD manages to rise two spots to score their second No. 1 song of 2010 with “Run Devil Run”, from the repackaged version of their latest album. They unveiled their new concept: “Black Soshi.” Through this new concept, the girls are to show off their powerful charismatic charms. The girls are also going to show off their glam and chic look.

2. (+3) Rain – 널 붙잡을 노래 (Love Song)
Score: 849
Genre: Pop Ballad

Album: Rain special album “Back To The Basic” Track 1
Comment: Eyeing for the top spot next week is Asia’s biggest pop star Rain as he moves up another three spots to No. 2. Rain is finally returning to the k-pop scene and releasing a new special album “Back To The Basic”. The meaning behind the title is that despite being in the music business for eight years, his heart and effort in it is like that of a rookie artist. Many anticipate his new work which includes a photo shoot that equally captured attention from fans and non-fans alike. The title song “Love Song” already tops many charts upon its release. Popular actress Han Ye Sul stars with Rain in this song’s MV.

3. (-1) After School – 뱅 (Bang!)
Score: 831
Genre: Pop / Dance

Music: Kim Tae Hyun / Lyrics: Kim Hee Sun
Album: After School 3rd single Track 2
Comment: After School’s “Bang!” fell one spot to No. 3. This song was looking very promising with a nine spots jump last week to No. 2 but due to very stiff competition on the top it has fallen back this week. “Bang!” was composed and penned by Kim Tae Hyeon and Kim Hee Seon respectively. This song was originally going to be a follow up single on their previous mini album, but was saved up for later to upgrade it. The song uses drum sounds as its backbone with powerful vocals to accompany it.

4. (-3) 2AM – 잘못했어 (I Did Wrong)
Score: 824
Genre: Pop / Dance

Music + Lyrics: Bang Shi Hyuk
Album: 2AM mini-album (repackaged version) Track 2
Comment: After spending the last 2 weeks on top, 2AM fell three spots to No. 4 this week with “I Did Wrong”. This song incorporates both dance and ballad elements while bringing out the theme of love. It starts off with strings and piano along with euro beats and drum sounds. The MV starring members Jo Kwon as a club DJ, Chang Min as a hockey player, Seul Ong as a biker, and Jin Woon as a basketball player.

5. (+4) Secret – Magic
Score: 711
Genre: Pop / Dance

Album: Secret 1st mini-album “Secret Time” Track 2
Comment: Perhaps overlooked last year with so many strong girl groups debuting, Secret (consists of Jeon Hyo Seong, Han Seon Hwa, Song Ji Eun, and Jing Geo) still impressed many fans with their debut song “I Want You Back”. Since then member Song Ji Eun has released a solo digital single duet with Hwan Hee, and also performed with Untouchable on their recent hit “Live In The Heart”. Now Secret releases their first mini album, “Secret Time”. The title track is “Magic” which has lively beats and was composed by Sinsadong Tiger, Kang Ji Won, and Kim Ki Bum. It moves up to No. 5 in just its second week on the chart. This will definitely be their breakthrough hit and puts Secret on the map with already an amazing core of girl groups.

6. (-2) Kara – 루팡 (Lupin)
Score: 644
Genre: Pop / Dance

Music: Han Jae Ho, Kim Seung Soo / Lyrics: Song Soo Yoon
Album: Kara mini-album Vol. 3 Track 2
Comment: This is the title track of Kara’s 3rd mini-album. It is a dance pop number with an extravagant hip-hop beat and stimulating synth sounds. It has intense and refreshing sounds and is performed with the members’ impressive voices.
