Comment: It just takes three weeks for 2010’s top rookie band CNBLUE to score their second No. 1 hit with “Love”, moving up nine big spots from No. 10 all the way to the top. CNBlue who had hyped up the music scene with their single, “Loner” earlier this year has returned with their second mini album. Their songs are upgraded alternative rock based ballads with a hint of rap, showcasing their full potential as a band.

2. (+2) Wonder Girls – 2 Different Tears

Album: Wonder Girls single “2 Different Tears” Track 1
Comment: Despite their very brief promotion, Wonder Girls found themselves in No. 2 with “2 Different Tears”. This song once again has a retro theme. The group has had much success since their debut with hits including, “Tell Me,” “So Hot,” and “Nobody” and have even debuted in the United States while performing as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers Tour last year. Their new album includes three versions of the title track, “2 Different Tears” as well as the English versions of their past hit songs. The title track is about the sad and happy feelings one has for their lover after breakup. The exciting 80s retro sounds and rhythm will capture listeners’ ears right away. This month, Wonder Girls will be doing their American concert tour. We wish them all the success.

Comment: Davichi is back with their latest mini-album “Innocence”. The title track “Time, Stop” is written by Hitman Bang Shi Hyuk, who has written many hit songs recently. Like their last hit song “8282”, “Time, Stop” also starts with a ballad like melody and then make a 180 degree turn on the chorus part to become an up-tempo song. This week it remains No. 3.

Comment: 5-member boy band, MBLAQ is back with their second single album. Through this comeback, the group is expected to show fans different sides of them with songs ranging from dance, emotional ballads, to stylish Jazz& R&B numbers. The title track is “Y,” a song with strong bass and drum sounds. The boys’ strong vocals are to be showcased in this song, composed and penned by Rain himself. It moves up another seven spots to No. 4 this week, becoming the group’s biggest hit to date yet.

Comment: Super Junior remains at No. 5 this week with their latest hit “Bonamana”, the title song from their 4th album. The boys hope to show off their strong music and performance skills through this album. The concept is SJ Funky” (Super Junior Funky) which can be heard most strikingly in “Bonamana.”

Comment: The title track of Hot Potato’s 5th full length album, ‘Seesaw.’ This song has a great combination of upbeat shuffle rhythm and string instructions. The lyrics are about feeling happy and nervous before making a confession of love. Completely different from Hot Potato’s usual progressive music, you will find ‘Confession’ quite lovely. Comment: 4Minute, one of last year’s top rookie female group, has returned with their second mini album, Hit Your Heart with an even stronger image. Their title track is “HUH” which was composed by Sinsadong Tiger. It holds lyrics about not being able to hold one’s dreams down, and being different from others. This week it moves up seven spots to become the group’s latest top 10 hit.

8. (-7) Seo In Kook – 사랑해U (Love U)

Comment: After spending one week on top, Superstar K winner Seo In Kook dropped back to No. 8 with “Love U”, from his first mini-album “Just Beginning”. “Love U” is a song which music lovers were able to see teasers of prior to the album’s release. The music video stars actress Kim Min Jung. “Love U” is different from his debut song “Calling You” as it is a medium tempo dance track that is well suited for the summer season.

Album: SS501 mini-album “Destination” Track 2
Comment: After their mini album last September [REBIRTH], SS501 is recognised for [Love Like This],[WASTELAND],[Just One Day]is back with new mini-album (DESTINATION). SS501 worked on this album for 3 months after finishing their Asia Tour. This album worked as a world project and even the jacket cuts are gaining attention. American Producer Steven Lee who worked with REBIRTH (famous for global gold disks) is back for another run and this album is quite universal with a combination of American, European and and Korean sounds. This album can be recognised and differentiated from other groups for less electronic sounds but more piano, lived based to express SS501’s sincere emotions. The title song LOVE YA is produced by Steven Lee and rings out with the harmony of the orchestra and piano. This allows SS501’s powerful but sincerity to be expressed. This week it moves up 14 spots to No. 9.

10. (-3) F(x) – NU 예삐오 (Nu Abo)

Comment: This is the title track of f(x)’s first mini album with the same name, “NU ABO.” It’s a dance song in the Reverse Beat genre that shows intense drum beats. The lyrics are about the new generation’s strong individuality, and unique perspective, personality and preferences based on the individual bloodtypes. f(x) has come back more confident and charismatic with this new single. Comment: One of the top R&B groups in Korea is back! Vibe has finally made a comeback after four years with their fourth studio album, titled In Praha. Members Ryu Jae Hyun and Yoon Min Soo are active writing songs for other artists but it’s been a while since the duo had their own release. Fans and non-fans alike will enjoy the group’s emotional vocals that had been missed. The album jacket was taken in Praha, the city of love. The title song “Come To Me Again” is written by Ryu Jae Hyun. The MV of this song stars popular actress Lee Ji Ah.

Comment: This is the title track of her first mini album, ‘Loveless.’ It’s a hip-hop R&B song with an intense beat that is unlike her previous R&B singles. Her new vocal styles can be heard in this song. The song is about men’s selfish attitude that is gradually revealed as the relationship moves forward in women’s perspective. Comment: 8Eight’s latest hit “Breakup Is Coming” dropped five spots to No. 13 this week. 8eight, the top mixed group in Korea, has returned with their first mini album, The Bridge. They have collaborated with Bang Shi Hyuk once again with title track, “Breakup is Coming,” a sad ballad about a couple who has just separated. 2PM member, Nickkhun is to star in the music video for this song.

Comment: This is the title track of 2PM’s 3rd single album, “Don’t Stop Can’t Stop.” It’s a House song about a man recovering after being hurt by his lover’s lies and betrayal. Its’ unique sound is from the combination of sounds from an analog instrument, the piano, and an digital instrument, the synthesizer. The resolute words in the chorus is impressive. Comment: Lyn makes a comeback after half a month with the second installation of her sixth album, Candy Train. Through this album, Lyn hopes to shows another side of her with brighter love songs. This album is for those who are waiting for their love one or have already fallen in one. The title track is “Darling, Honey, Love” composed by hit maker, Hwang Seong Je, who had also produced her previous album. It is a cute, listener friendly medium tempo R&B track with strong hip hop beats, perfect for this spring/early summer season. It also features a cute and colorful MV. The style is totally different from Lyn’s previous songs. This week it moves up another spot to No. 15.

Comment: Fast rising male ballad duo December scores their third straight top 20 hit with “Tears In Heaven”. This listener friendly ballad showcases the duo’s great harmonizing skills and it may be their best song to date. “Tears In Heaven” rises one spot again this week to No. 16.

Korea’s top diva and singsong writer, Hwayobi has returned with her seventh album in celebration of her ten year anniversary as a singer. The songs included in the album will represent the singer herself and the style most people know her for. Hwayobi was penned all the songs and composed six of the ten songs, including the title track, “Bye Bye Bye.” The track is about a woman and her feelings after breaking up without looking back. This week it is our biggest mover, up 20 spots to No. 17.

The MV of this song features Eugene. This week it remains at No. 18.

Comment: Monday Kiz has returned this month with their fourth album. They recruited a new member, making it now a trio. Korea’s top production crew has participated in the makings including composers such as the Kim Do Hun/ Lee Hyun Seung combo, Han Sang Won, who was responsible for past hit song, “Disperse,” and Park Hae Wun. In addition, member Lee Jin Sung produced the entire album himself in addition to taking part in composing and penning some songs. This is the first album as a group since the unfortunate passing away of member, Kim Min Su. The title track is “Don’t Go,” composed by Kim Do Hun and Lee Hyun Seung and penned by member Lee Jin Sung. It is a medium tempo ballad number with hints of hip hop, incorporating strong drum beats and string arrangements. This cross-over genre number brings out a new feel listeners will enjoy. This week it moves up six spots to No. 19.

Comment: SG Wannabe’s member Lee Suk Hoon is to stand solo this year with his first mini album, Greeting. He already hit the top 20 with the digital single “Ten Reasons I Love You” last month. Now Lee is back with the official title song of the mini-album “Station” and it is our highest debut this week. Teamming up with Cho Young Soo and Ahn Young Min who wrote the majority of hit songs by SG Wannabe, “Station” is an emotional pop ballad that is of different style than SG Wannabe’s songs.

Album: Stocking digital single “Locked Up In Jail” Track 1
Comment: Stocking returns with the second single, “Locked Up in Jail” for the project album. The song was composed by Kim Doo Hyun who also wrote Lee Ji Hye’s “Were You Bored with Just One Girl” and Jang Nara’s “Tinkerbell.” The song is not about literally being locked up in jail but about being locked in the” jail of memories” after a breakup and not being able to escape from it. This sad tale shows a person not being able to see anything in front of them after leaving a loved one. (credits to motoway065 for translations)
