Soompi’s Weekly K-Pop Music Chart : April Week 4

Hey hey hey….! Today is such a beautiful morning..! Let’s start with soompi‘s latest weekly k-pop chart.

Well, Girl’s Generation (소녀시대/Sonyeoshidae/SoShi)  is on top! Wow..! Great job! ^^ But unfortunately my favorite Epik High drops down to no. 15 :(. Okay, here’s the complete chart…..

1. (+2) SNSD – Run Devil Run *** 1 WEEK NO. 1 ***
Score: 885
Genre: Pop / Dance

Music: Busbee, James, Engstorm / Lyrics: Hong Ji Yoo
Album: SNSD Vol. 2 repackaged version Track 1
Comment: Perhaps this is the last week that their song has the best chance to hit the top before more strong challengers fly in. SNSD manages to rise two spots to score their second No. 1 song of 2010 with “Run Devil Run”, from the repackaged version of their latest album. They unveiled their new concept: “Black Soshi.” Through this new concept, the girls are to show off their powerful charismatic charms. The girls are also going to show off their glam and chic look.

2. (+3) Rain – 널 붙잡을 노래 (Love Song)
Score: 849
Genre: Pop Ballad

Album: Rain special album “Back To The Basic” Track 1
Comment: Eyeing for the top spot next week is Asia’s biggest pop star Rain as he moves up another three spots to No. 2. Rain is finally returning to the k-pop scene and releasing a new special album “Back To The Basic”. The meaning behind the title is that despite being in the music business for eight years, his heart and effort in it is like that of a rookie artist. Many anticipate his new work which includes a photo shoot that equally captured attention from fans and non-fans alike. The title song “Love Song” already tops many charts upon its release. Popular actress Han Ye Sul stars with Rain in this song’s MV.

3. (-1) After School – 뱅 (Bang!)
Score: 831
Genre: Pop / Dance

Music: Kim Tae Hyun / Lyrics: Kim Hee Sun
Album: After School 3rd single Track 2
Comment: After School’s “Bang!” fell one spot to No. 3. This song was looking very promising with a nine spots jump last week to No. 2 but due to very stiff competition on the top it has fallen back this week. “Bang!” was composed and penned by Kim Tae Hyeon and Kim Hee Seon respectively. This song was originally going to be a follow up single on their previous mini album, but was saved up for later to upgrade it. The song uses drum sounds as its backbone with powerful vocals to accompany it. Continue reading “Soompi’s Weekly K-Pop Music Chart : April Week 4”

After surprisingly winning the top female group on our last year’s Soompi Gayo Award, Kara continues their strong showing on our chart. The title song “Lupin” is from their recently released 3rd mini-album of the same name. Kara vowed to return to a more fierce image on this mini-album, a concept that did not fare too well when they used it on their debut album. But that was then and this is now. Comment: If it is not due to such a strong opponent in SNSD, 2AM would have scored their first No. 1 song on our chart. Instead, they stay at No. 2 again this week with “Can’t Send You Even If I Die”, a song produced by hitmaker “Hitman” Bang Shi Hyuk. Through their new mini-album, 2AM will be able to show hybrid genres with trendy sounds and danceable beats, a 200% upgrade from their last. After a very successful 2009 seeing them become one of k-pop’s premier girl groups, SNSD is back with their 2nd full length album “Oh!”.
