Soompi’s Weekly K Pop Chart : August Week 3

Whoa…!

What’s up?? Long time no see and I’m gonna start this week with Soompi’s Weekly K Pop Music Chart for August Week 3.

Well.. It’s been a while I didn’t post anything about K Pop. It’s Ramadhan, moslem’s fasting month. So, I try to focus on getting closer with God 🙂

This chart.. Wow.. so many fresh songs and singers. I haven’t added any new K Pop songs to my play-list  because currently I listen to nasheed (religious song) 😀

Okay, here’s the chart and ENJOY..! 🙂

1. (+2) DJ DOC – 나 이런 사람이야 (I’m This Kind Of Person) *** 1 WEEK NO. 1 ***
Score: 922
Genre: Pop/Hip-hop/Dance
External from soompi image

Music: Yoon Gun Hyung / Lyrics: Psy, Lee Ha Neul
Album: DJ DOC Vol. 7 Track 2
Comment: DJ DOC moves up two more spots to No. 1 this week with “I’m This Kind Of Person”.  They are one of the most prominent old skool K-Pop/hip-hop groups with past hits like “Run to You”, “Dance With DOC”, and “Summer Story”.  DJ DOC returns after six years with its seventh album, “Appreciation”. This album marks the group’s 15th anniversary in the music industry. The title track “I’m This Kind of Person” is an electronica number with fun lyrics and is expected to capture listeners’ ears. This song along with others from this album has already ranked very high on various music charts and the album is also selling well.  It is not surprising that they won by a large margin this week.

2. (-1) Miss A – Bad Girl Good Girl
Score: 854
Genre: Pop / Dance
External from soompi image

Music + Lyrics: Park Jin Young
Album: Miss A first single “Bad But Good” Track 1
Comment: This is the title track of Miss A’s first single album, ‘Bad But Good.’ It’s Miss A’s debut single, which became the talk of the town even before its release because it was produced by Park Jin-young. It’s a medium tempo song with a combination of a rich European-style musical melody and intense American-style hip-hop rhythm. The straight-forward lyrics where the girls confidently express themselves are impressive. (credits to Arirang TV – Pops In Seoul)

3. (+6) Homme – 밥만 잘 먹더라 (Eat Well)
Score: 827
Genre: Pop Ballad
External from soompi image

Music + Lyrics: Bang Shi Hyuk
Album: Homme digital single “Homme By Hitman Bang” Track 1
Comment: Perhaps the top duet this year, 2AM’s Chang Min and and 8eight’s Lee Hyun join hands with producer Bang Shi Hyuk for his project, Homme by “Hitman Bang” in time for the summer. The rock, pop, and R&B hybrid number, “Eat Well” uses guitar and drum sounds to refresh listeners’ hearts. It’s the type of song that will make listeners just drop what they are doing and leave. The two artists’ powerful harmonization will definitely make listeners feel the emotions of the song. This week it moves over a lot of strong competition and up six spots to No. 3. After their mini album last September [REBIRTH], SS501 is recognized for [Love Like This],[WASTELAND],[Just One Day]is back with new mini-album (DESTINATION). SS501 worked on this album for 3 months after finishing their Asia Tour. This album worked as a world project and even the jacket cuts are gaining attention. American Producer Steven Lee who worked with REBIRTH (famous for global gold disks) is back for another run and this album is quite universal with a combination of American, European and and Korean sounds. This album can be recognized and differentiated from other groups for less electronic sounds but more piano, lived based to express SS501’s sincere emotions. The title song LOVE YA is produced by Steven Lee and rings out with the harmony of the orchestra and piano. This allows SS501’s powerful but sincerity to be expressed.

Rain is finally returning to the k-pop scene and releasing a new special album “Back To The Basic”. Comment: After School’s “Bang!” fell one spot to No. 3. This song was looking very promising with a nine spots jump last week to No. 2 but due to very stiff competition on the top it has fallen back this week. “Bang!” was composed and penned by Kim Tae Hyeon and Kim Hee Seon respectively.
